September 5th, 2019 witnessed excited children greeting their teachers with cards, flowers, hugs and warm wishes. The occasion planned and executed solely by children turned out to be a very joyous experience for all teachers. The programme commenced with a welcome note followed by a short speech in honour of Dr. Radhakrishna. All the cultural programs that were staged bore a common theme, the respect that each teacher deserved. Teachers were encouraged with loud cheers from children during the games session planned towards the end. The program came to a conclusion with teachers being gifted with plants in decorated pots, a befitting gift for a memorable day.

13-08-2019 तः 19-08-2019 पर्यन्तं संस्कृतसप्ताहस्य आचरणं सञ्जातम् । तत्र बहवः श्लोकपठने, संस्कृतनृत्ये, संस्कृतसम्भाषणे, प्रश्नोत्तरस्पर्धायां च बहु उत्साहेन भागं गृहीतवन्तः । प्रदर्शनी अपि कृता । विविधखाद्यपदार्थानां तथा नित्योपयोगवस्तूनां संस्थाप्य संस्कृतज्ञानकोशं प्रदर्शितम् । सर्वे छात्राः स्वसंस्कृतज्ञानकोशं संवर्ध्य शब्दभण्डारस्य विकासम् अकुर्वन् । एवं रूपेण संस्कृतसप्ताहः बहु आनन्देन सञ्जातः ।
‘The Sanskrit Week’ was conducted from the 13th to the 19th of August in the AMIS campus to pay reverence to the oldest language on earth. The performances of children such as sloka recitation, quiz programs, dances, speeches etc. added color to the program with the committed efforts of the Sanskrit department facilitators. The exhibition display, set up in one corner of the main lobby comprising of fruits, vegetables, materials of daily use and a variety of costumes served as a fitting highlight to the whole show. Children maintained the same enthusiasm and spirit throughout the whole Week.

Most of the presentations that were exhibited in the AMIS campus during the day of the ‘Knowledge Fest’, enabled ‘out of the box’ thinking. ‘Halliya sogadu’, the Kannada show, that resembled a typical village filled parents with nostalgic memories. Social department’s display focused on the history of cricket and its evolution. The English show dealt with spell fast and pattern games, transformation of English, poetry presentations and speech extracts from popular Shakespeare’s plays. Sanskrit department put forth a variety of programs such as dances, skits and songs. Children enabled the audience during the Math display to explore the origin and concepts of tangrams, integers and exponents. Most of the art and craft materials displayed were done out of the products thrown away as waste. Computer department chose to display materials related to cleanliness and preservation of the environment. The theme of the Hindi department was based on the living conditions, costumes, food and drinks of the ancient times. The Science fest dealt with a comparative study of the ancient food habits with that of modern times. The confidence children portrayed and the innovative methodologies of the school won the admiration of parents greatly.
16th August 2019
On the morning of 16th August, class 7th Raintree group embarked on a field trip to Shravanabelagola, one of India’s most iconic places consisting of 2 hills. We climbed 700 steps to see the most breathtaking view. We also saw the great 58 feet tall Bahubali statue. Our classmates shared the information about Bahubali, Gomateshwara statue and Mahamasthakabisheka of Gomateshwara.
Then we climbed down the foothills. After having our lunch, the journey towards home began. After leaving at 6.45 am and spending a lot of time there, we reached the school at around 5.00 pm. This was a fun, memorable and first hand informative trip.
15th August 2019
The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated grandly in the AMIS campus on the 15th of August, 2019. Patriotic songs, dances, quiz program, lezim display and the gymnastic stunts of children after the flag hoisting ceremony added purpose and meaning to the program, apart from the stunning decorations. On account of Shri Aurobindo’s birthday few of his extracts were read from the Gita. To mark the Sanskrit Saptah, relevant speech and song was presented.

‘The poetry week’ commenced on the 8th of August and pursued until the 12th of August. Venues for the grade V – IX presentations were allotted in different areas of the school to break the monotony of assembling in the same place everyday. The props used combined with their colourful attires, facial expressions and gestures served as an added advantage to all the shows. Children had chosen various genres that touched upon personal emotions, nature, humour, animals, school, courage, patriotism, etc. The unfaltering applause received at the end of every performance was proof enough that the performers had engulfed great success throughout the week.

Parent’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on July 19th, 2019 at AMIS. Parent’s and grand parent’s participated in huge numbers and staged wonderful performances. They sang melodious songs like the evergreen hit, “these are a few of my favourite things” from the Sound of Music to classical Kannada folk songs , recited inspirational poems, performed a value based skit and grooved to popular as well as classical dance numbers.
All these performances were greeted with huge cheers and applause and had the audience asking for more. It was indeed a memorable day.
